A dark, twisted retelling of “Dante’s Inferno,” done in the torture-porn style of “Hostel” and “High Tension.” To escape her abusive foster home, headstrong 18-year-old Danielle Hitches a Ride with an affable psycho who calls himself Virgil and has an axe to grind against women based on his warped religious beliefs. She realizes she hasn’t quite found her knight in shining armor when she awakens half-naked, chained to a post in Virgil’s basement. As Virgil, puts Danielle through a sadistic “moral cleansing” of debauched torture sessions that could kill her at any moment, she must choose either to fight back or to become as inhuman and deranged as Virgil himself. What Virgil doesn’t know is that Danielle may be more than up to the challenge of his psychotic head games.

MR. IRON PALM is certainly not your average South Korean movie. For one, it stars Koreans and the setting is Los Angeles, with no visits to the homeland at all. It’s an appealing romantic comedy, highly predictable, but there’s something to be said about a movie that doesn’t make its leading lady completely sympathetic. All of the actors do a good job, and the movie is more funny than romantic, more lively than dull, and in a romantic comedy, that’s really all one can hope for. Certainly not a bad film by any stretch. Worth a look for those who likes some quirk in their romantic comedies.

When troubled teen boy Stevie (Cameron Van Hoy) and his girlfriend, Rocky (Mischa Barton), attempt to rob a bank without any forethought, the situation rapidly deteriorates. Soon the young couple is holding bank customers and employees hostage, while law enforcement gathers outside.
